+-7-8 year-old male large mix breed (Ridgeback x pointer type)
Ruff came to SPCA in a terribly neglected condition. His physical condition is dramatically improved though this is a long journey and he is still on his road to recovery.
This big boy absolutely adores people. He’s looking for a secure home where he can soak up the sun, with a comfortable bed of his own and a good nutritious diet. He is best suited as a single pet in the home and promises to be a loyal companion to his humans.
Ruff has clearly suffered tremendous neglect previously and, as he’s a mature adult dog, he needs a safe home and responsible family committed to his wellbeing and care.
He is not a “let’s walk down the promenade type” or able to frequent busy dog parks. He needs one on one care, to be kept safe, and to have a peaceful retirement all to himself.

Yesterday evening the Cape of Good Hope SPCA received an emergency call about an emaciated dog tied to a pole and abandoned in Belmont Park. The kind complainant was waiting with the dog until one of our officials arrived to rescue the dog and could investigate the matter further.
