As animal lovers, we know you dread the thought of your animals going missing and we know you would have sleepless nights until they were safely back in your arms and your home.
So imagine our surprise when Barnaby, a very sweet, senior Terrier X found wandering the streets as a stray, remained unclaimed in our care 2 months after his owner had been traced.
It was hard to look at his little greying face and imagine that the unconditional love he had given his family for 14 years had meant so little to them. Barnaby also had a tumour on his colon that had to be surgically removed and some very bad teeth that were treated as well. We finally placed Barnaby up for adoption and prayed that a family would look past his advanced age and give him a second chance at life.
Our prayers were answered when a retired couple chose to share their lives with Barnaby and our golden oldie finally went home to a wonderful life in Greyton. We were delighted to receive this recent update and message from Barnaby 4 years after his adoption.
“Hello SPCA, Barnaby here. Compliments of the season. A bit late but we are all getting rather old. May 2024 be a good year for you and the SPCA. Lots of wags and barks.”“
Aaaah Barnaby, at 18 you’ve earned the right to take things a bit slower!
Enjoy those extended afternoon naps in sunny spots, treats aplenty and endless belly rubs Boy. We wish you and your wonderful family a paws-itively fantastic 2024, filled with love, laughter, and plenty of tail wags!
