Because every tail deserves a happy ending…

Cuteness overload as Nobert settles into his fur-ever home

Possibly the best part of everything we do at the SPCA is our Happy Homings.

To see the joy on the faces of the new families and the sheer delight of the animals they adopt makes all the blood, sweat and tears worthwhile.

Many of the animals who come through our doors have been rescued from situations of such diabolical cruelty it is hard to imagine.

Others have endured traumas such as abandonment, bereavement from a deceased and beloved owner, getting lost and finding themselves stray… their hearts beat as ours and they feel emotions just as deeply.

Reading progress

“End of June this year, I applied to adopted Norbert – a wire-hair Terrier Cross Breed.” – Sonya Crous

“He is doing so well with my other two senior dogs – Sean and Starskey. Norbert has the softest nature and clowns around a lot at night when I put him to bed. I don’t know if he did this while at SPCA, rubbing his eyes with his long legs, displaying his gorgeous milky-mouth, while rolling around on his back doing a perfect rendition of “cuteness overload”.

Starskey and Sean have embraced him into the pack, but I also firmly believe we’ve got one of Starskey’s grandsons. Norbert even likes to do his number 2 under a tree, where no one can step on it. This is so typical of Starskey. Starskey also allows Norbert to sleep with him and lean against him tightly in the car. Sean and Starskey have been a pack for 14 years, yet Starskey wouldn’t allow this to happen with Sean.

They are all super boyz and Norbert is getting used to the beach and the ocean. Nobby has plotted his escape from the leash a number of times on the beach, finally completing his mission- so a thicker leash is required next time. He must have been truly loved some point in time before things took a downward spiral before ending up at SPCA.

He is a loveable and enjoys being brushed, lying on my lap for cuddles, or doing zoomies around the garden and the house. He is such an adorable part of our pack.

I’m so glad we found him!” – Sonya Crous
