Happy Homings

Because every tail deserves a happy ending…

Happy Homings December 2024

Possibly the best part of everything we do at the SPCA is our Happy Homings.

To see the joy on the faces of the new families and the sheer delight of the animals they adopt makes all the blood, sweat and tears worthwhile.

Many of the animals who come through our doors have been rescued from situations of such diabolical cruelty it is hard to imagine.

Others have endured traumas such as abandonment, bereavement from a deceased and beloved owner, getting lost and finding themselves stray… their hearts beat as ours and they feel emotions just as deeply.

Reading progress

December was an amazing month of Happy Homings, with many animals finding loving families just in time for the holidays. The joy on the faces of their new families and the delight radiating from the animals themselves make every challenge we face worthwhile.
Tales of Transformation: From Shelter to Home

“Hi, friends! It’s us—Addie, Big Bella, Bob, Dolly, Paris, Maxwell, Nina, Precious, Sugar, Summer, Syrup, and Tyson!”

Thanks to your support, we’re now living our best lives with families who cherish us.

Big Bella naps on sunny porches, Bob the cat has claimed the coziest windowsill, and Paris the kitten dreams big in her forever home. Every wagging tail and purring heart is a testament to your kindness and belief in second chances.

“Hi again! Snowi, Odi, Captain, Diso, Oreo, Alex, Cruz, Bailey, Buddy, Lilly, and Willow here. We’re feeling the holiday spirit, not because of gifts under the tree, but because of the greatest gift of all—a family to love us forever.”

Because of your shares, likes, and generosity, these once-uncertain animals now know joy.

Snowi gets belly rubs on demand, Buddy is celebrated for his quirks, and Alex and Willow the cats reign supreme over their cosy couches.

Each moment of joy they experience is thanks to your unwavering compassion.

A Special Thank You from Our Newest Adoptees

“Hi, friends! We’re Addy, Arthur, Athena (Alaska), Bluey, Bruno, Fleur (Blueberry), Jake & Harper, Matthew, Skaapie, Steffi, and Tiggers. This Christmas, our hearts are full because of YOU. 💞”

Athena is thriving, Fleur enjoys her walks in Cecilia Forest, and Matthew is excelling in puppy school. Steffi can’t wait for Christmas treats, while Bruno is loving his new haircuts.

Every success story begins with someone like you who believed in their potential.

Jessie-Pie’s Happy Ending

One heartwarming story comes from Cryslin Fabrik, who adopted Jessie-Pie (now Luna):

“Luna is a bundle of energy who acts like she owns the place. She’s a real couch potato, loves snuggles, and insists on sticking her head out the car window during rides.”

Luna’s story exemplifies what’s possible when an animal finds their match. Her happiness and sense of belonging are made possible through your support.

Dee recently shared her joy after adopting Nala (was Dumpling):

“I just wanted to say that Nala is settling in so well.

She is incredibly relaxed and already looking so at home.

She snuggled onto her bed in my room last night and didn’t make a peep all night.

She and Kezi are having some wonderful play sessions, running around the house chasing each other and getting the zoomies together!

She is eating well and seems to know that she must wee and poo in the garden.

There are a few things she’ll need to learn – eg she dug into one of my indoor plants, but that’s all good – it’s early days and I have plenty of toys to distract her and help her find other ways to direct her playful energy.

She has stolen our hearts already!! ❤️”

Ariana Skeen also shared her gratitude after adopting Odi:

“We adopted Odi from your centre about a month ago and he is now starting to settle in quite nicely.

I just wanted to thank everyone who was involved in the adoption process for assisting us with finding our companion.

We have grown very fond of Odi over the last few weeks and his personality has blossomed since we got him in December 2024.

Thank you so much for the good work you do and helping these fur babies find loving homes!

Finally, I wanted to share some pictures of Odi enjoying his new home – hopefully this will brighten everyone’s day 🙂

Kind regards – and best wishes for 2025!”
