Because every tail deserves a happy ending…

Rescued and Reunited

Possibly the best part of everything we do at the SPCA is our Happy Homings.

To see the joy on the faces of the new families and the sheer delight of the animals they adopt makes all the blood, sweat and tears worthwhile.

Many of the animals who come through our doors have been rescued from situations of such diabolical cruelty it is hard to imagine.

Others have endured traumas such as abandonment, bereavement from a deceased and beloved owner, getting lost and finding themselves stray… their hearts beat as ours and they feel emotions just as deeply.

Reading progress

In a heart-warming turn of events, Princess Celestia and Applejack, two horses rescued from a life of misery and neglect have found their way back to each other after months of separation.

Their journey began at the Cape of Good Hope SPCA, where following their rescue they received the care and attention they desperately needed. Read more about their rescue here. Princess Celestia was the first to be adopted, finding a loving home with Telana Robertson of Somerset West.

But Applejack remained behind, waiting for her chance at a new beginning. Surprisingly, Telana returned to the SPCA recently, not just to visit, but to bring Applejack home. We couldn’t be happier that the two “sisters” have been reunited and neither could they.

Telana says “We have a very very happy Apple! We are so grateful Mark… she has settled in like she has always been here and she has bonded so quickly with my daughter!”
