During a proactive farm visit, Education Officer, Thembi Nomkala noticed five pigs and 32 piglets squashed under a vehicle canopy, struggling to stay dry and warm during one of the worst storms of the season.
Using a hands-on approach, and armed with hay, blankets and pallets, Thembi helped the farmer clear an area on the farm and construct a suitable shelter. There may have been a gale blowing that night but Thembi slept soundly knowing that those animals weren’t spending another night unprotected from the elements.
