If 2020 was the year we’ll all remember for the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, 2021 is the year of fiscal focus for the Cape of Good Hope SPCA. Last year’s fundraising restrictions, caused by lockdowns and limitations on public gatherings, were a rude reminder that we do not receive government funding. Cutting services for animals was out of the question. Refusing to respond to calls for help was never an option.
Instead, we tightened our belts as best we could; and we were also – thank goodness – able to rely on income from our treasured bequestors – amazing people who had once made provision for the Cape of Good Hope SPCA in their Wills.
This year, our Board and Senior Management recommitted to sharpening:
- Organisational financial capacity
- Increasing our social media presence to serve more pet owners with educational information
- Exploring more online fundraising opportunities in the interests of sustainability.
I’m sure that you will support these objectives as I do. Please know that we appreciate every Rand, every gift in kind and every show of support – especially when it involves adopting one of our beautiful animals! Thank you for everything you do to show us that you care!
