Join Captain Crow-a-Lot on a mission to provide animals with the freedom from hunger and thirst they deserve!

He’s walking his squawk by taking part in a 42 km marathon to raise funds for the work of the Cape of Good Hope SPCA.

With feathers ruffled by the plight of animals in need, Captain Crow-a-Lot, the spirited avian advocate of the Cape of Good Hope SPCA, has embarked on a mission to champion animal welfare and inspire kindness by standing for the Five Animal Freedoms that every creature, great and small, rightfully deserves.

Cluck-cluck, my lovely flock! Today, we’re pecking into the very first freedom: Freedom from Hunger and Thirst.

Imagine this: you’re a chicken strutting your stuff, feathers ruffled just right by the breeze, but what’s more important is that your crop is full, and your beak is moist. That’s the kind of freedom I’m squawking about!

Here at the Cape of Good Hope SPCA, we’ve made it our mission to ensure that every critter, be they chicken, dog, or cat, never has to fret about an empty stomach or a parched beak. We’re talking about good food and fresh water – all the nourishment our furry and feathery friends need to thrive.

But it’s not just about the feed and water; it’s about giving every critter the chance to live life to the fullest. Picture a joyful pup frolicking in the park, or a contented kitty curling up by the window with a full belly. That’s what freedom from hunger and thirst truly means!

Join me, Captain Crow-a-Lot, as I flap off to the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon to help countless animals in need.  I’ve got a nest-full of blog posts lined up, each one taking a closer look at the Five Animal Freedoms and how they feather into the SPCA’s mission.

Don’t be a chicken! Follow me, explore the world of animal welfare, and make your donations right here on our website. Together, we can ensure that every animal, from the proudest rooster to the fluffiest bunny, enjoys the freedom from hunger and thirst they so rightfully deserve.

Cluck-cluck, let’s make it happen, Peep Peeps!

To kick-start his mission, Captain Crow-a-Lot challenged several other mascots to a dash down the iconic Sea Point promenade marking the start of his egg-citing commitment to raising awareness and funds for animals in need.

Help get Captain-Crow-a-Lot to the finish line!
