Paul, a Malinois that had been in the SPCA kennel for ages, was showing signs of kennel stress and badly needed the right home.
As if sensing Paul’s plight, Raef and his daughter visited the SPCA; their previous pet, Dash was from the SPCA, and his death had devastated his family.
When Raef stopped at Paul’s kennel, something uncanny happened. The energetic Malinois would usually spin in his kennel, but instead, he offered his paw through the kennel door … and Raef committed to adopting him.
It was cold and raining on Paul’s first night at his new home, but he was too scared to go inside. Undeterred, Raef spent the night sitting outside with Paul; and over the next few weeks, Paul settled in.
When it was time to find Paul a friend, Raef returned to the SPCA and adopted Naomi, also a Malinios. As happy as we are for this incredible family, we also pay tribute to precious Dash … his legacy is the happy hearts of two more SPCA dogs – and the big, caring heart of his beloved Raef.
