Since 1872, for 150 years (May 2022) Cape of Good Hope SPCA has been devoted to being a voice for thousands of animals who cannot speak for themselves.
We stand fast in our vow Animal Cruelty Must Stop, and that No Animal Should Suffer.
Your legacy is a lasting way to reflect your beliefs and values and is the most significant personal statement you can make for animals.
In 1975 these gifts assisted 1000 strays in one year, today legacies are assisting more than 1000 strays per month!
It is the Legacy left behind that secures the daily operations, growth and expansion that is vital to our work and enables us to be guardians of animals in need, care for the sick and injured and to provide a safe haven for the lost or abandoned.
By leaving a gift in your Will, you become an Animal Guardian, a cherished partner and, together, we can secure the next 150 years, serving and protecting our animals’ welfare!

Did you know that the Cape of Good Hope SPCA is celebrating 150 years in service of animal welfare, thanks to generous bequests and the kind support of people like you?
A Gift That Lasts Beyond A Lifetime
It was a bequest made by the late Val Gorfinkel that enabled our Animal Hospital to receive a much-needed revamp about 16 years ago. That upgrade helped ensure that 40 000 animals received veterinary help during the past year.
If you’re one of the amazing people who have made provisions for animals in your Will, please remember that it is important to have the proper citation in your document. For instance, our name must be explicitly stated as the CAPE OF GOOD HOPE SPCA or SPCA GRASSY PARK to ensure that your chosen SPCA is the endowed beneficiary – and there is no confusion.
“At times, our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us.” – Albert Schweitzer
