From the 5KM Peace Run to the Full Marathon, Our Runners Answered the Call to Run Like Heroes!
Cape Town, October 2024 – Team SPCA hit the ground running at the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon this past weekend, raising almost R190,000 in support of the work of our Inspectorate! With 48 dedicated runners across four events – from the 5KM Peace Run to the grueling 42.2KM Marathon – every step brought us closer to a future where all animals are safe, loved, and valued.
And, of course, Power Poodle and courageous (and curly) mascot led the charge on marathon day, embodying every bit of the hero spirit that makes our team unstoppable!
Congratulations on your amazing achievement and for standing up for the voiceless—the strays, the forgotten, and the abused. We are so proud of you and grateful for your unwavering support!
A special thanks to Power Poodle!
You may have spotted Power Poodle with his fur flying, tail wagging, and maybe the odd moment of stopping to sniff around!
Power Poodle was running with purpose. Protesting the sad reality that too many animals live unwanted and unloved. He didn’t just run for fun – he ran to fund our sterilisation efforts and help end the cycle of pet overpopulation.
Thank you Pet Shop Science for making our Team Participation possible
We couldn’t have done it without our sponsor, Pet Shop Science, whose support made this weekend of heroism possible. From funding our entries and running shirts to joining us on the 10KM, Pet Shop Science went above and beyond the call of duty.
