Guinness World Record Attempt: Fastest Marathon Dressed as a Rooster

Ross the Rooster - World Record Attempt “The Fastest Marathon Dressed as a Rooster”

Reading progress

Just when we thought our supporters couldn’t dream up more creative ways to raise funds in support of animals and the work we do at the Cape of Good Hope SPCA, here’s a runner who will be attempting to break a Guinness World record while running in a chicken costume in the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon.

In the words of Ross "The Rooster" Dold:

“If you don’t know yet, I am aiming to break an existing Official Guinness World Record at the Cape Town Marathon on 16 October.”

The title I am eyeing is “The Fastest Marathon Dressed as a Rooster”.

While doing so, I am raising awareness and funds for the Cape of Good Hope SPCA.

They do amazing work for both domestic animals and mountain wildlife, and are a team close to my heart.

To incentivise support, I’ve arranged a hamper of goodies from Mugg & Bean, Hammer Nutrition and Balega Socks and more!

Any donation earns an entry to win fantastic prize hampers, which will be drawn in October.

I've had an exciting month of donations and sponsors, so I have divided them into 3 prizes!

Remember – Any donation to SPCA gets you an entry.

(I’ve increased my target to R40 000, due to the support so far!)

The “Food and Wine” Hamper, worth R3000

  1. R500 M&B Voucher
  2. 6x Nederburg wines
  3. Treats from Cheaky Co.
  4. An amazing Butcher Block from www.thesco.co.za who will personalise an engraving on the front, for the winner

The “Active” Hamper, worth R2500

  1. 2x Asics T-shirts (his and hers)
  2. 4x Versus socks (his and hers)
  3. 1x Hammer Nutrition hamper (for all)
