Howard Warrington completed his 199th swim from Robben Island to Blouberg, and it wasn’t easy. Every swim is a challenge, and even after 198 crossings, this one was no different. But something special drove him forward this time.

On Friday, Howard and Elmarie visited the Cape of Good Hope SPCA animal hospital. They feared the sadness and suffering they might see, but inside those walls, they found hope and an overwhelming warmth.

“I met so many animals who have a chance at healing, thanks to your generosity and the tireless efforts of the SPCA team,” Howard shared.

He was especially moved by Charlie, a stray dog whose life was saved by the SPCA after a rope deeply embedded in his neck was removed. Howard’s 196th swim was dedicated to Charlie, raising the funds that helped him heal. Meeting Charlie and seeing the love and dedication at the hospital inspired Howard’s 199th swim.

Howard is turning the tide, one animal at a time. Now, he is just one swim away from reaching his historic 200th crossing. Help us get him there and turn the tide of suffering into a tide of love and healing. Donate now to support Howard and the Cape of Good Hope SPCA.
