FNB Wines2Whales Cyclists to Ride for SPCA

Three teams tackle Wine2Whales to make a difference for wildlife and animals in Khayelitsha

Reading progress

The FNB Wines2Whales mountain bike race is more about the journey than the destination, but no matter your inclination, you’re guaranteed a fun-filled, action-packed three days of riding alongside like-minded people.

The Cape of Good Hope SPCA has two teams made up of four riders who are committed to raising funds for wildlife, and a third team of two riders from the Bonga Cycling Academy.

Wild4Wildlife Teams

The SPCA’s Wild4Wildife teams are Vernon Rudman and Liza Vivier – riding the Chardonnay 28 – 30 October – and David Mitchley and Viv Schulze riding the Pinotage 31 October – 2 November 2022.

Bonga Cycling Academy Team

Two riders from the Bonga Cycling Academy, Aviwe Matina and Ayabonga Kobese will be riding under the banner of the SPCA in the Shiraz category from 4 – 6 November 2022. Born and raised in Khayelitsha, Aviwe and Ayabonga have dreamed of becoming pro cyclists.

The young men were delighted when the Cape of Good Hope SPCA offered them the chance to participate in the FNB Wines2Whales event and have in turn pledged to make their race count for more by helping animals in their community, alongside the SPCA’s Inspectors.
