You’re invited to spend your 67 minutes in memory of Tata Madiba here at the Cape of Good Hope SPCA and assist the animals in our care!
We’re looking for a group of people who would be willing to get creative (and a little dirty!) for 67 minutes.
While a hands-on approach is always preferable on Mandela Day, the SPCA also welcomes food or gift donations in show of support.
We’ve got options listed below for everyone! Please e-mail Claudia if you have any questions awareness@spca-ct.co.za
Build A Kennel
Build A Kennel
Hammer away and build cozy homes for our furry friends! No prior construction skills required – just bring a hammer, some paint, your enthusiasm and a smile.

Please bring along paint, brushes and cleaning supplies.
Oat Hay Bales
Be an oat-some hero! Donate oat hay to keep our barnyard buddies munching happily!
Our Horse Care Unit & Farmyard is in desperate need of oat hay bales for the farm animals in our care. We care for over 80 farm animals at any given time.

Any brand is welcomed. Also don't forget about our kittens and puppies!

If a picture could speak a thousand words, then this picture of Madiba with his much loved companion Gompo shows a man whose humanity extended further than to just the human race.
As a patron of the National Council of SPCA’s during his lifetime, the Father of our Nation’s dreams of a just society could never have excluded animals.
In honour of a great man, who instilled in each one of us the determination to pursue a better life for all, please consider joining us as we pursue a better life for animals this Mandela Day.
If you dream of a country free from animal cruelty, please come and pitch in to improve our space, or make a donation in Tata Madiba’s honour.
Nelson Mandela International Day is an annual international day in honour of Nelson Mandela and is celebrated on 18 July, the day on which the late former President was born.
It is a global call to action that celebrates the idea that each individual has the power to transform the world and the ability to make an impact.
“We know it well that none of us acting alone can achieve success. We must therefore act together as a united people, for nation-building, for the birth of a new world.” – Nelson Mandela
Every year the Cape of Good Hope SPCA are touched by the incredible outpouring of generosity and love exhibited on #MandelaDay.
Here are some memories of past Mandela Days at the Cape of Good Hope SPCA
Admorend Mupasu showed us all the true spirit of Mandela Day when he arrived to donate this gorgeous kennel built with his own two hands.
Admorend, a shack dweller from Samora Machel earns a living by building kennels from wooden pallets and while he may not be a wealthy man, he certainly has a generous heart.
He also managed our kennel building project for us at Mandela Day and ensured that all the kennels that were constructed were sturdy and will serve needy animals well into the future.
If you are looking for a kennel, please look no further than Admorend Mupasu? You will find his kennels for sale (priced from as little as R250.00) on Jakes Gerwel Drive just off the N2 and he can be contacted on 0747233755 for any woodwork or steelwork projects including burglar bars, sliding gates and braais. He would also sincerely appreciate any donations of wood / wooden pallets.
Donate R67
If you can’t join us for 67 minutes on Mandela Day, please consider a donation of R67 or more in honour of this special day.
