If you love animals and would like to make a difference to lives of the many animals the SPCA rescues and cares for, then consider becoming part of our special group of volunteers, also known as our animal angels.

Here’s how you can get involved!

We need our volunteers for various tasks and not just those below. Please let us know if you have any suggestions or ideas of ways you get involved!

Please note, while you are volunteering, there may be other tasks we could require assistance with, if you are willing.

Seal Squad

To participate, you must be at least 18 years old

We require volunteers to assist us with the monitoring of seals that are resting on our beaches.

The aim is to keep the seal safe and to keep the public and dogs away.

As the eyes and ears for stranded seals, you will not be able to handle the seals directly but will play an important role in keeping them safe until one of our trained Wildlife Inspectors can arrive at the scene to examine the seal and decide on the best course of action.

Entry requirements:
  • Pay a once-off fee of R350, which includes a t-shirt and a beach kit (with required gear).
Compulsory orientation training

Compulsory orientation training must be attended. Dates of the training will be communicated upon receipt of your application.
