We require volunteers to assist us with the monitoring of seals that are resting on our beaches.
The aim is to keep the seal safe and to keep the public and dogs away.
As the eyes and ears for stranded seals, you will not be able to handle the seals directly but will play an important role in keeping them safe until one of our trained Wildlife Inspectors can arrive at the scene to examine the seal and decide on the best course of action.
Compulsory orientation training must be attended. Dates of the training will be communicated upon receipt of your application.
Learners needing to complete their Community Service assignments are invited to support the SPCA by volunteering.
To sign up, submit the following to SPCA Volunteer Coordinator a month prior to the assignment due date:
As we are only be able to accommodate a certain number of students at any given time, students will be selected on a first come, first serve basis and those selected are required to attend a brief orientation session.
No community service will be allowed during weekends.
