Rio’s Story Sparks International Debate

Reading progress

Since our post last week, thousands have clicked to read about Rio. His story prominently featured in local print and broadcast media and was even featured on Expresso Early Morning!

Rio piqued interest from international media channels including Newsweek and Yahoo

The debate started with Yahoo stating, “There are several possibilities, according to Jenna Stregowski, RVT, Daily Paws Pet Health and Behavior Editor. He’d been around humans before, so it’s also possible he recognized the smells and sounds of the shelter and veterinary office and knew to go there for help, Stregowski says. Dogs are incredibly good at tracking and scouting, after all.”

Rio’s story brings the focus on the importance of having your pet microchipped.

A Gift That Lasts Past A Lifetime

It was a bequest made by the late Val Gorfinkel that enabled our Animal Hospital to receive a much-needed revamp about 16 years ago. That upgrade helped ensure that 40 000 animals received veterinary help during the past year.

Find out how to become an Animal Guardian by leaving a gift for us in your will.
