As 2022 came to an end, our team still had their hands full the last few days with various rescues. A very concerned cat owner contacted the Cape of Good Hope SPCA for assistance after establishing that her cat was stuck in the neighbour’s tree, who were away for the Christmas weekend. The concerned cat owner tried everything to get her beloved cat out of the tree but was unsuccessful.
Without hesitation, our Inspectorate responded. Trainee Inspector Lindo Mblele was first on the scene. Lindo jumped the wall as he could hear the cat was in distress. Even though the cat was able to come down the tree by himself, he was too scared to come down as the dogs on the property were circling the tree. This left Lindo with no other option but to climb into the tree to remove the cat safely. Lindo, who is no stranger to climbing trees, made his way up the tree to rescue the cat. Lindo was followed by a caring neighbour who assisted him and brought the cat carrier box up.

As Lindo approached the cat, he heard a few Meows, and the cat made his way to Lindo. Lindo managed to safely rescue the cat and placed the cat into the cat carrier box. Lindo carefully climbed down the tree with the cat and carrier in hand. When Lindo reached the ground, he smiled from ear to ear as he was very proud of his successful rescue.
The cat was safely returned to his owner, who was very grateful for the quick response of the SPCA.
