The recent severe weather has had a devastating impact on our communities, but thanks to your incredible support, we’ve been able to make a huge difference for animals in need. Because you cared, we could be where animals needed us the most and when they needed us, regardless of the time of day or night.
In just 4 days, we traveled almost 20,000 kilometers, spent over R47,000 in fuel, and logged 166 hours of overtime. It was worth it! More than 3,000 animals were assisted in Macassar, Freedom Farm, Hout Bay, Khayelitsha, Cape Nature Farms, Mfuleni Farms, Wetland Farm, iThemba Farms, Factreton, Melkbosstrand, Sir Lowry’s Pass, Strand, Wynberg, Phillipi, DuNoon, Penhill Farms, Schaapkraal, and Airport Industria.
Our work is not yet done, the South African Weather Service predicts further disruptive rain, causing localised flooding in susceptible formal and informal settlements, to fall over the City of Cape Town and Stellenbosch on 18 July 2024. Please contribute to our ongoing efforts to keep animals safe from floods, mudslides, and rockfalls. We can’t do it without you.
With better driving conditions today, we could take proactive measures to protect animals in outer-lying areas and focus our efforts on assisting the community of Atlantis.
• 60 dogs were vaccinated against rabies
• 29 animals were admitted for sterilisation
