Our team returned to Langa today to assess 100 more homes, and the situation is even more dire than anticipated. Straying dogs were found at nearly every turn, and we encountered undeniable cruelty that our Inspectorate will be addressing immediately.
📊 Summary of Census conducted last week:
– 105 homes surveyed: 159 animals counted in total:
– 148 dogs, 11 cats
– 15 cases of animals in urgent need of treatment for ticks, fleas, and skin issues
– 18 strays: 12 visibly unsterilised, 12 with serious skin conditions
– 5 homes had animals they no longer wanted
There is an Unprecedented need for support and intervention within the Langa community.
The magnitude of this crisis is staggering. The sheer number of animals in need of immediate care is alarming and the volume of unsterilised animals in the area will soon add to the burden.
We must step in now!
Our aggressive sterilisation drives and proactive measures are essential to prevent further suffering and creating a compassionate future for these animals.
