Jack’s Christmas Wish

Reading progress

In this season of giving, Jack’s story reminds us of the purity of a dog’s heart—one that can still love, hope, forgive, and believe in a brighter future, even after all he’s been through.

Considering this, we’re sure that if Jack could write to Santa, his greatest wish would be for his rescuer, Inspector Werner Taljaard, to be happy, inspired to continue his difficult work, and for every animal to be free from the suffering of a chain.

Jack's Letter to Santa

Dear Santa,

I’m sure I’ve made it to your “Good Boy” list this year. Everyone at the SPCA calls me a good boy, so it must be true.

I’ve never written before because I thought I must be on your naughty list.

I was being punished everyday you see, living a life of hunger, pain and loneliness.

Inspector Taljaard works so hard to save dogs like me from lives of chains and suffering.

He saved me too and now there’s nothing he wants more than to see me find my forever home for Christmas.

I’ve been waiting, and I know he’s waiting too.

This Christmas, I want him to see that all his hard work has led to something truly magical – that second chance for me.

If you send me a family Santa, I’ll be the best boy!

I’ll make Inspector Taljaard proud and show the world that love and care can change everything. Inspector Taljaard deserves to see that all his hard work, his kindness, and his belief in second chances can lead to the happiest of endings.

He says this is what gives him the strength to fight for dogs like me tomorrow and the next day and the next …..

There’s one more thing, Santa.

Could you help get more people to sign up to ride for Team SPCA in the Cape Town Cycle Tour?

Every cyclist who joins is raising money so that Inspector Taljaard can save more dogs like me, and there are so many that need him.

The more cyclists that ride, the more lives he and the other Inspectors at the SPCA can save. Those dogs are all good boys too.

Please grant me my wish Santa,

I need inspector Taljaard to smile when he remembers me and to know that when he fights for dogs like me, he doesn’t fight alone – he has an entire team behind him

With all my love and hope,
Jack 🐾
P.S. Maybe bring Inspector Taljaard a little treat too. He hasn’t asked for anything except for me to find a home, but he deserves so much more.
