Justice – Misfortune to Miracle

Reading progress

Field Officer Sonwabo Sitole and Inspector Jeffery Mini’s hearts broke when they responded to this call in December 2019. Children thought it would be entertaining to throw a lit firecracker at Justice.  Playful as he is now known to be, he grabbed the firecracker moments before it exploded in his mouth. The ordeal left him severely injured and needing multiple reconstructive surgeries.  Over time a twinkle returned in his eye, the kind of look we see when hearts and bodies heal when spirits lift and broken pasts become distant memories. It’s the look that says I’m safe, I’m loved and I matter.  Justice is still overwhelmed with excitement every time he visits the Cape of Good Hope SPCA and we welcome the celebrity with open arms at every visit.  Witnessing his transformation is a testament to the love and care showered on him by Cary-Anne and Fabian.

Happy 1-year anniversary to Justice and his family from all of us at the Cape of Good Hope SPCA.
