Thanks to the efforts of SPCA Lost & Found clerk, Keagan Wolfaardt, Paco the Chihuahua was reunited with his desperate owners after being AWOL for 6 weeks.
Six weeks is a long time for a little dog to spend on his own – alone, hungry and missing his family. Poor Paco, who disappeared from his home in the Bellville area, was eventually picked up by a kindly soul in Kuilsrivier – 20 km away! He was taken to the Panorama Veterinary Clinic, before being transferred to our Lost & Found Centre.
Fortunately, we recognised Paco from a “missing” poster on Facebook, and immediately called his worried owner. Walking along the passage to the Lost & Found section, Paco’s owner heard his distinctive bark and immediately said, “That’s Paco!” without even seeing the dog.
“A huge thank you to Keagan and the Cape of Good Hope SPCA for the safe return of our dog, Paco,” he said. “You guys rock!”
Reuniting a lost dog or cat with its owners is often a team effort. If you come across a stray, please contact our Lost & Found on 021 700 4166 and we’ll do our best to help get them back home again.
