Dr. Ayoub Banderker

Cape of Good Hope SPCA Board Member, Dr Ayoub Banderker, abhors cruelty to animals and children.

From 29 October to 8 November, 2020, Dr Banderker will tackle the iconic desert foot race, the Kalahari Augrabies Extreme Marathon to raise awareness of the link between animal cruelty and human abuse.

“The facts are clear,” he says. “People who hurt animals are highly likely to also abuse humans, including vulnerable children and women.

“In order to stop the wrong, we have to be proactive,” he added. “There are many good organisations doing the ground work, like the CoGH SPCA and IHATA Shelter for Abused Women and Children.

“We might not be able to stop animal abuse or gender based violence – but each of us can in our own way support the fight against cruelty.”
