From terrible burns to terrific home

Pretty tabby cat, Dave had been admitted to the SPCA with a nasty burn wound that had stripped his left leg of skin and left him with a raw, painful wound. He had been rescued from the streets of Delft by a kind saviour, and placed in the care of the SPCA.

While receiving expert treatment in our animal hospital, Dave showed everyone his loving nature as our hospital team worked tirelessly to treat his terrible burns and restore his hope in humanity.

Fortunately, Dave’s story has a gold lining … he found his forever home with a family who embraced him with his scars, giving him the name Kintsugi.

Kintsugi is the ancient Japanese craft of repairing cracked pottery by filling the seams with gold, making the piece even more beautiful for having been broken. This philosophy – finding beauty in imperfection – is precisely what inspired Dave’s new family to give him the name.  His scars, like the golden lines in kintsugi pottery, make him even more beautiful to the family who love him now.
