Rushing to the rescue

After hearing that a dog was trapped on a tiny island of soil in the middle of the flowing waters of a canal in Langa, Inspector Lwazi Ntungele rushed to the rescue.

With water dangerously swirling around the dog, Inspector Ntungele called for backup, and Officer Yaaseen Abrahams from Law Enforcement’s Animal Control Unit responded. With no time to lose, Officer Abrahams removed his bulletproof vest to ensure nothing would weigh him down in the water. As he stepped into the canal and approached the stranded dog, a wagging tail was a comforting sign and with careful steps, Officer Abrahams reached the frightened pup, lifting her from her perilous perch to safety.

The moment they touched dry land, it was clear: another precious life was saved, thanks to the swift actions of our dedicated team and the SPCA’s invaluable partnership with the City of Cape Town.
