Thanks to a hero who reported a little dog’s plight, SPCA Inspector Werner Taljaard was able to rescue her from a distressing situation.
Someone had put NikNax (as she’s now known) in a deep steel drum, covering the top with a heavy piece of wood.
As Inspector Taljaard peered down the drum, all he saw was NikNax’s big, beautiful brown eyes staring up at him. She was all alone, with nothing but an empty Nik Naks packet, a scrap of fabric and a dirty old teddy bear. She had been left there like rubbish – but from the moment of her rescue, she was treated like a princess.
Little NikNax was fortunately given a clean bill of health after being assessed at the SPCA. She never forgot who rescued her, and always had an extra wag in her tail for Inspector Taljaard when he checked on her.
Best of all, NikNax has gone to a great new home – and that’s the happiest outcome!
