Tinkabelle will never have to pull a cart again

Life was not kind to Tinkabelle before the SPCA stepped in. Used as a cart horse to pull heavy loads day in and day out – despite being thin and wounded – her negligent owner didn’t care that the chaffing and wounds on her chest were painful.

Being worked to the bone was all Tinkabelle knew – until the SPCA Inspectors rescued her from misery in Mitchell’s Plain. Not only was this beautiful horse rehabilitated at the SPCA Horse Care Unit, she’s also in a wonderful new home, where she’ll never pull a cart again and is a treasured part of the Frey family’s herd.

Inspector Mark Syce, who heads up the SPCA Horse Care Unit, wasn’t surprised to hear that Tinkabelle had won over the Frey family and said: “She has an easy-going nature, lovely ground manners and her kindness towards other horses made her a favourite in the Unit”.

Thank you, Frey family for welcoming Tinkabelle into your home – and hearts!
