Tails Up Lottery Winner Desire van Rooyen is February’s Rising Star

Reading progress

Desire van Rooyen, a resident of Durbanville was announced the February winner and The Cape of Good Hope SPCA’s next Rising Star.

She first joined the Rising Stars Tails Up Lottery in May 2021 and also adopted Dakota from the Cape of Good Hope SPCA in December 2021.

“Adopting Dakota (previously Friesha) was like winning the lotto, winning this prize is just the sweetest cherry on top. Thank you so much – going to buy Dakota lots of treats!”

Rising Stars Tails Up Club convener Greta Marz says the random selected winning ticket was confirmed by BDO Auditor, Sbuyiselo Mshengu before Desire van Rooyen was informed of the outcome. The lucky winner was notified by telephone.

“I really feel like the luckiest person – and the timing is just so spot-on as I’m in the process of moving to Mauritius, so this prize will go towards Dakota’s airfare”

Desire also shared the following message to all animal lovers:

“For those who are thinking about contributing- your adopted animal brings you so much joy so as a token of appreciation and in your pets honour why not give a monthly contribution to Rising Stars?”

Congratulations, Desire!
