Meet our Wildlife Team

Our Wildlife Team sees firsthand how wildlife suffers unnecessarily due to human action/inaction – all the human-wildlife conflicts that arise from those who are intolerant to the lives of the animals on whose territories we have encroached.

They see them die from consuming poisons, killed or injured by cars on the roads at night, shot/shot at, abused, and generally treated with disdain. They see them killed or hurt by people that fear them or are suspicious of them.  They see those hunted and poached, stuck in traps and snares and they see firsthand the impact of urbanisation on our free-living wildlife.  They see the deprivation of wild animals kept in captivity and their hearts break for those who will never be set free again.

Our Wildlife Team consists of only 3 individuals, who serve wild animals throughout our entire area of operation – a region abundant in naturally occurring wildlife. The team proactively inspects facilities where wild and exotic animals are kept for human entertainment or to be sold for a profit.  They respond reactively to reports of cruelty and reports of animals in distress and during the last financial year provided safe sanctuary at our onsite short-term wildlife rehabilitation facility for 2 023 wild animals including; porcupines, caracals, seals, sea birds, land birds, reptiles, and several wild, small to medium mammal species.

Step Aside Chuck Norris!

Here's why They Run!

They spend a lot of time up ladders and chimneys, down drains, climbing trees, wading murky water, and navigating the roads less traveled, all in the name of wildlife rescue!  Rescuing a wild animal in distress whose instinct is to flee from human presence requires some fancy footwork so something else they do a lot of is RUN!  They will be running for wildlife on the 17th of October 2021, just like they do every day but this time they are doing it to raise funds to enable them to continue their work!  Please #giveahoot and support their Sanlam Cape Town Marathon Peace Run?

Your donation will keep them up ladders, chimneys, and trees, climbing mountains, in the water, and well …..  RUNNING to save and preserve Cape Town’s magnificent wildlife so that generations to come can experience the joy of seeing animals in their natural habitats too.

YES!! I Give a Hoot
