When the Cape of Good Hope SPCA Wildlife Department received a call about a grysbok that had wandered into the suburbs near Strand late last week, our Wildlife team was mobilised.
Dehydrated but with only some superficial scrapes to show for her ordeal (that were treated by a local vet), the adult doe spent the night recuperating in the peace and quiet of our wildlife short-term care facility before being given the all-clear by our veterinarians and taken back to the wild area where she belongs (and most likely came from) early the following morning after the rescue.
Through winter, the SPCA’s Wildlife Department attends to an average of more than 76 wildlife emergencies per month (in the summer months this number doubles!)
