A Durbanville couple was shocked to discover a wild genet in the humane trap they’d set after their lovebirds started disappearing – and worse, the beautiful cat-like creature had injured himself, leading the panicked property owners to quickly call the SPCA for help.
Once the feisty genet was transported safely to the SPCA, his growling, hissing and spitting didn’t deter our Head Veterinarian, Dr Esté Spies, who calmly sedated him in order to clean his wounds, which – thankfully – were only superficial.
Once stable, the genet was released into a reserve where he’ll roam safely – and where he can hunt for food, just as nature intended, instead of picking on pets!
