Work with City of Cape Town’s Disaster Risk Management Centre and serve at the Joint Operations Centre (JOC) to work efficiently and prioritise our response to the animals in greatest need.
Actively work in areas where flooding is imminent to move animals to safety.
Evacuate trapped pets, farm animals, and stray animals in the flood zones.
Distribute food for animals (dogs, cats, horses and farm animals) and blankets in the hardest hit areas.
Provide warm shelter, food, and medical care for flood victims.
Work 24/7 to respond to the crisis.
Our team rescues soaked dogs and stranded cats, as well as horses andfarm animals and responds to wildlife emergencies too. We help baby birds tossed from their nests by gale-force winds, Cape fur seals swept ashore by raging seas, and even porcupines flooded out of their stormwater drain homes.
Whether they walk, fly, swim, or gallop — the storm affects them all.
– Chief Inspector Jaco Pieterse
Floods don’t give second chances. But you do. Your gift sends help. It means waders and wetsuits in the water, life-saving care and comfort for distressed animals. And help for communities.
Floods hit fast. Families evacuate. But animals? They’re left behind—trapped in homes, tied to posts, shivering on rooftops. We’ll go where nobody else can. But we can’t do it without you.
You put rescue teams in motion— blankets and animal carriers in arms. You fund the vet care, the fuel, the gear, and the second chances. Because of you, animals are saved from hypothermia and drowning.
You won’t wade through the water. You won’t carry them out. But your generosity will save every paw, every claw and every hoof that finds dry ground. Thank you for being their lifeline.
